Christian van Orsoy

A Dutch merchant banker with extensive dealings with the Asiatic Company of which many appear to be a type of (early?) remittance trade (DNA: Negotie-journaler, all years).

In the inventory of the property and items that had belonged to Christian van Orsoy (dated to 1766), the following colonial goods can be found purchased from Danish merchants: (Glamann, 1949, p. 397)

- Pano comprido and salempuris (both types of Indian cottons) that had been purchased from the Danish Asiatic Company

- Borax that had been purchased from Iselin, Reinhard / House of Reinhard Iselin & Co.
