1777 - Applied for Indfødsret. Called himself Vinhandler and Borger, owned 55 shares in Asiatisk Kompagni, two ships sailing for the West Indies.
1783 - Paid 40,000 rigsdaler to the new Fødselsstiftelse under the protection of the Dowager Queen. As a result Bolte was ennobled with the name Baron Bolten in May. He was praised for having 700 employees. (Hist. Medd. Kbh 1917:329)
1783 - Bought the etate Sorgenfri from the wife of Desmercières, Jean Henri for 14,500 rigsdaler. (Hist. Medd. Kbh 1917:330)
1783 - Married to Heinrich, Frederikke Sophie (1765-1801), daughter of Heinrich, Johann Friedrich. The wedding was postponed because Bolten believed to be bankrupt, but was saving by a large loan of 600,000 rigsdaler from the state.(Hist. Medd. Kbh 1917:329)
1784 - Bought the estate Asserstrup for 50,000 rigsdaler and Frederiksdal, both on Lolland. (Hist. Medd. Kbh 1917:332)
1785 - Bought Sæbygaard on Sjælland for 110,000 rigsdaler and Aagaard, also on Sjælland. (Hist. Medd. Kbh 1917:332)
1785-6 - Declared himself bankrupt. (Hist. Medd. Kbh 1917:332) This led to discussions among the king and his minsters whether to support Bolten or not, as his bankrupcy would be very damaging for the trade of the Oldenburg state. (Hist. Medd. Kbh 1917:335)
