Vibe Maria Martens has a Ph.D. from the European University Institute in Florence, Italy. Her research focuses on Danish colonial trade of the East India Companies and the Asiatic Company in Indian cotton textiles to Denmark and West Africa in the period 1660-1830. The study also includes analyses of how the imported Indian cottons were utilised in Danish society and how they gave way to changes in consumption patterns and material culture.

Vibe is very curious to discover more about the Danish merchants whose names appear on this website, and if any scholars around Europe are able to identify any trade and connections between Copenhagen and other European cities and their merchants and trade in cotton textiles.
