1754 - Helped inspect the Guvernor's residence at the request of Guvernor Krog, Hans Georg, which was found to be in bad condition (Struwe, VGT 6, 202-203)

1754 - December, instructed to travel to Pondicherry, and on his way inspect the newly erected battery in the Danish loge Portonovo. He returned to Tranquebar in 1755 (Larsen Ostindiske Personalia)

1755 - 14 August, he was named leader of the expedition to colonise the Nicobar Islands in the Bay of Bengal. In september the same year, Tanck set out with the two ships Kongen af Danmark and Ebenezer (see www.jmarcussen.dk for more information on the ships).
